June 15 - October 14 2024
In the increasingly likely context of frequent natural hazards, the Sutton Museum wants to help. The exhibition “Disaster! Are You Ready?” addresses the roles and responsibilities of the authorities, but also, and above all, the art of being well prepared individually and as a family.
Sprinkled with historical anecdotes from Sutton, the exhibition reflects on the means of communication used by authorities over the years to coordinate disaster relief. From the telegraph to cell phones, there's a whole range of technologies that have been used to bring relief to the population. You'll see that communication has always been at the heart of successful interventions.
You'll learn the art of being well prepared individually and as a family. Learn how to assemble an emergency kit. You'll be able to try your hand at telegraph communication, as well as consult long-term weather forecasts for the region. Above all, the exhibition will offer you solutions adapted to local realities.
